Quad Group Strongly Denounces Pahalgam Terror Attack

On Wednesday, the foreign ministers of the Quad group, comprising the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, expressed their strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 civilians. In a joint statement, they emphasized the need to bring those responsible for the attack to justice without delay.


Call for Accountability from Quad Ministers

The Quad security dialogue group urged for the immediate accountability of those who orchestrated, executed, and financed the attack in Pahalgam. They also appealed to member states of the United Nations to enhance cooperation in this regard. The foreign ministers from the Quad nations condemned the attack in strong terms and reiterated their firm support for actions against cross-border terrorism. The tragic incident claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national, with several others injured.


Expressions of Sympathy and Calls for Action

The ministers expressed their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the swift recovery of all injured individuals. They stated, "We call for the perpetrators, those who carried out this heinous act, and their financiers to be brought to justice without delay. We urge all member states of the United Nations to actively cooperate with relevant authorities in accordance with international law and the pertinent resolutions of the UN Security Council."


Concerns Over Regional Stability

During the meeting held in the U.S. capital, which included Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya, the ministers also discussed the situation in the East China Sea and South China Sea. They expressed serious concerns regarding Chinese military actions, reiterating their strong opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo through force or coercion.
